The server.properties file is the main configuration file for your Minecraft server. Understanding how to edit this file allows you to customize game modes, PvP settings, difficulty, and many other server behaviors. ⚙️

The server.properties file controls essential server settings:
✅ Game Mode - Survival, Creative, Adventure, or Spectator
✅ Difficulty - Peaceful, Easy, Normal, or Hard
✅ PvP Settings - Enable or disable player combat
✅ World Settings - Seed, world type, and generation
✅ Player Limits - Maximum players and whitelist
✅ Performance - View distance and simulation distance

✅ Root Directory - In your server’s main folder
✅ File Manager - Accessible through HostByte panel
✅ Text Editor - Can be edited with any text editor
✅ Backup Recommended - Always backup before editing
⚙️ Step 1: Access Your Server Files

➡️ Log into your HostByte account
➡️ Navigate to your Minecraft server
➡️ Click on “File Manager” in the left sidebar
➡️ Locate and open server.properties
⭐ Tip: Make sure your server is stopped before making changes to avoid conflicts.

Configure the default game mode for your server:

✅ survival - Players must gather resources and survive
✅ creative - Unlimited resources and flying
✅ adventure - Limited interaction, good for maps
